In addition to the courses listed below, the Instructional Technology Team will train an individual, group or department on a requested topic. Please contact any of the individuals below with questions or training requests or see the

Access 2010

Introduction to Access 2010(Faculty/Staff) - Setup a new database using Design and Datasheet views. Add and delete data fields, enter, edit and replace records, saving a printing a database, data types, sorting records, formatting field properties, creating a primary key, input masks, validation, simple query structure.

Access 2010 Queries and Reports (Faculty/Staff) - Use design view to create queries. Build queries using criteria including text, number, and data field types, wildcards and fields from multiple tables. Save and name a query. Create a report from a saved query.

Acrobat

Introduction to Acrobat (Faculty/Staff)  - Use Adobe Acrobat to create and convert documents to PDF, a format that can be read by anyone having the free downloadable Acrobat Reader on their machine.  Emphasis is on size, setting types, bookmarks, links and security. 

Adobe Connect

Web Conferencing

Introduction to Adobe Connect (Faculty Only) - This session will show you all you need to know to use Adobe connect web conferencing software. Use this tool to instantly communicate and collaborate for online meetings, interviews and in class. This easy to use software will get you connected in no time.

Argos  

Report Viewer: How to login, access reports created for your office and utilize the various functions of ARGOS.  Also included is an overview of business intelligence and its benefits to users.

 Argos  Report Writing: How to turn an ARGOS datablock into reports. It is assumed that the user know ARGOS basics such as logging in and navigating various folders. Offered by appointment. Please email Candy Hamblin  (chamblin@rollins.edu) to schedule.
 Argos  Datablock Designing 1: Introduction to the basic fundamentals of datablock design and a tutorial on the visual query editor. Offered by appointment. Please email Candy Hamblin  (chamblin@rollins.edu) to schedule.
 Argos Datablock Designing 2: Using SQL to optimize report functionality. Learn the basics of SQL code and other advanced features of datablock design, including basic OLAP cubes. Offered by appointment. Please email Candy Hamblin  (chamblin@rollins.edu) to schedule.
 Argos OLAP and Dashboard Design: Create interactive Pivot Tables (OLAP cubes) and learn about common dashboard strategies. Discuss charts and which ones are best to use for certain situations. Offered by appointment. Please email Candy Hamblin  (chamblin@rollins.edu) to schedule.

Audacity

Audio Editing for the Classroom (Faculty Only) - The first portion of the class will cover the use of Audacity, a robust audio editing tool that is available as freeware. The next portion of the class will focus on how you can use Audacity to create course materials or projects for students.

Blackboard 9.1

Blackboard Basics  (Faculty/Staff)
Set up a Blackboard (Bb) site using the tools built into the Bb server. Upload your content and organize your material. Create Discussion Forums and Threads.  Setup grade center items and views. Basic grading instruction. Discuss course availability and course rollovers.

Intermediate Blackboard  (Faculty/Staff)
Configure automatic availability dates for course materials. Export grade center data.  Setup testing center using test pool and schedule taking a test. Use adaptive release criteria to differentiate materials and instruction to students.

Classroom Technology

Classroom Technology: Hands-On Workshop (Faculty Only) - The classroom technology workshop will train faculty on the proper use of the different technologies found in our classrooms. The session will largely be hands-on in nature and participants will be encouraged to try out the equipment themselves. Methods for effectively incorporating these technologies into your teaching will be discussed.

Excel 2010

Introduction to Excel 2010 (Faculty/Staff) - As you may or may not know, things have changed in Office 2010. What’s different? What’s the same? This session will provide you with the information you will need to hit the ground running with Excel 2010. The session covers basic formulas, functions, formatting, charting and other essential information.

Intermediate Excel 2010 (Faculty/Staff) – This session is designed for those who want to do more with Excel. This session will cover Data Filters, Pivot Tables, Look-Up Tables, more advanced cell references, loading add-ins, and more.

 

iTunesU

Introduction to iTunesU - (Faculty/Staff)
This session will focus on pedagogical ways to incorporate iTunesU into your course. Discussion on how to obtain content and what equipment and software to use. Also different methods for maintaining content, including student work.

One Note

What is One Note?  A planning and note-taking software included in the 2010 Office Package. Very user-friendly. Keeps text, images, video and audio clips and interchanges with Word, Excel etc.

Personal Response Systems (PRS)

Engage Your Students with PRS (Faculty Only) In this hands-on session, faculty will be introduced to the Personal Response Systems used on campus. These systems allow faculty to poll their class and receive real-time responses. This class will cover the PRS software, hardware (IR and RF), and tips for effectively incorporating this technology into your courses.

Photoshop

Preparing Images for the Web (Faculty/Staff) Emphasis will be resizing, cropping and preparing pictures for the college's new web pages.

Photoshop Layers and Tools (Faculty/Staff) Layers can be used to produce dramatic effects in an image.  Learn how to select specific areas of an image, then use the lasso and move tools to combine images. Basic tools and effects will be covered and questions on other features are welcome.

PowerPoint 2007

PowerPoint (Faculty/Staff) Getting started with slide creation using text art, animation, images, clip art, and movies. Using notes feature on slides. Set slideshow presentation using two monitors (projector). Printing tricks for handouts. Using Bb to post presentations. Create slideshow presentations to share.

Premiere

Create your own video content to share with colleagues and students (Faculty/Staff) Movies can be added to your web page, Blackboard course or PowerPoint presentation. This hands-on class will show you how to capture, edit, and save clips taken from a movie camera or DVD.

Publisher

Introduction to Publisher (Faculty/Staff) Use prepared templates to easily produce a variety of printed materials including newsletters, flyers, signs, banners etc. Publisher is included on all 2010 Office installs.

 

Word 2010

Introduction to Word 2010 (Faculty/Staff) The newest version of Word has a new graphical interface. Menus and toolbars have been replaced by the ribbon and tabs. This session, for Mac and PC users, will provide a tour of the new features as well as directions to your “old” favorite commands. Intended for new users and those anticipating using the new version.
